  14. Depends what you're transferring.  I get 2-3Kbytes/sec when transferring stuff 
  15. that's already been compressed (i.e., zipfiles), but I usually get double that 
  16. rate when transferring uncompressed stuff.  V.42 compression can't compress 
  17. any further what's already maximally compressed, but it sure kicks in nicely 
  18. on uncompressed stuff.
